Maybe its just me but I would think it would be cheeper and easier to have the satelite pre-riged to blow itself up?? But hay I'm no rocket scientist.

Seems like there spending a pile of money quordinating this. Maybe there using it as a military training excersize as well.

Who would no ......

  1. I think a satellite could possibly be pre-rigged to blow up.  This one they definitely are not trying to destroy because "It has a full load of fuel," as they've said.  I'm sure it is because it holds a lot of 'spyware' type hardware on board.

  2. Normally they tend to burn up in the earths atmosphere, but this one is a bit bigger than usual.

I think that because this satellite is very advanced and a military intelligence satellite, they just want to make sure that it is destroyed, rather than being picked up by another country.

Clearly it has some pretty sensitive stuff aboard!

I don't believe for one moment that they are worried about any fuel that might be on board.
