Any paid volunteer work?

I would like to know if you can be paid for volunteer work. I realise it would be below minimum wage. If there is that opportunity do you know who I could contact in this regard?

While it seems like a total contradiction in terms there actually is for example Americorps workers are called volunteers but they get a living expense stipend and can earn scholarship money.  Many religious groups pay workers a bare minimum living allowance.  When I worked for Red Cross that particular chapter paid barely over minimum wage for the position while a comparable job I took after that paid several times minimum.  Peace corps pays a "readjustment allowance" after service and a living allowance. I am sure there are probably other such groups.

Depending on your interest you could contact your minister, priest, rabbi or other religious leader, do a web search for Peace corps or Americorps, talk to your school guidance office, check the website for  volunteer center or United Way in your area.

the whole point of volunteer work is that you don't get paid and you do it out of the goodness of your own heart

paid volunteer work? the whole point in volunteering is that you dont get paid, you do it to help someone. if u want to get paid to do something then get a job

You don't get paid if you volunteer. Check your dictionary.

I would search your state or cities visitor's/tourism centers. I worked for one, hired as a supervisor, and found a few weeks into it allot of the little old ladies at the information booth in the airport started as vollunteers.. but now they get paid. They were more then happy to remind me when I was trying to get them to be flexable with scheduling what day each week they'd work the following month. Most of them were insistant about there certain day, and how they only started there to vollunteer for that day.

They actually had more leway with the company then me
