Any pain meds that dont have codeine in them?

My wife is having oral surgery on monday morning.but she is allergic to codeine.she is going to need a powerful pain med.is there any other pain meds that dont contain codeine

My wife was allergic to codeine and the MD gave her hydrocodone (Vicodin) for pain when she broke her coccyx when she delivered our son.

Lots of pain meds contain no codeine. I just had oral surgery last week and they gave me Mepergan. It is demerol. Is she also allergic to hydrocodone? It is probably the most prescribed pain med by far. A lot of people confuse codeine with hydrocodone, but they are not the same. There are also pain meds such as darvocet and ultram. Neither of those contain codeine.

Personally, Mepergan works best for me, but I have a high tolerance to pain killers. For moderate pain I use Ultram and prescription Ibuprofen.
