  2. We have done a variety of computer-based curriculums.

One of the kids is computer-pasionate, so we used K12 with him for 4th to 7th grade. He really enjoyed it and did very well. You can see some of his electronic notebook pages from 4th, 5th and 6th grade at http://www.virtualhomeschoolgroup.com/co... . Just log in as a guest.

For 8th grade he wanted to change from electronic notebooking his K12 studies to making a concept map based portfolio of his notes and total studies. You can access his 7th grade portfolio at http://cmapspublic2.ihmc.us/servlet/SBRe... . Once you get on his portfolio page, click the little icons at the bottoms of nodes to see his concept map notes or work samples.

This year, 8th grade, I am volunteer teaching in a virtual homeschool co-op. It is a place where homeschoolers can all come together to teach free classes to other homeschool kids or be on the recieving end and take free classes taught by volunteer parents. He is enrolled in online Literary Analysis, Composition, Algebra I, and Chemistry there. He meets at the designated times in the online, live classroom with his other classmates and the teacher. The classes run anywhere from 2 students up to 10. The online classroom has full duplex audio, a neat whiteboard system with drawing, writing, and PowerPoint presentation tools. The kids and teacher can use mics or the text chat to communicate. They can even do webcam, Flash, file uploading/downloading, and application sharing. It is pretty neat. The link I gave above for the e-notebook examples is one of the assynchronous (independent of teacher and at your own pace) classes in that virtual homeschool co-op. To go to the co-op's main page use this link: http://www.virtualhomeschoolgroup.com/
