We're not familiar with Abeca. I'm wondering if you could help explain your personal experiences with sending your child to preschool with Abeca curiculum. Thank you.

  1. No I haven't

  2. I used to teach the abeka curriculum, their is alot of information for the child to learn. usually it's a grade ahead. it's an excellent program  Again I taught the program for over 10 years

  3. well, I USED Abeka from preschool to first grade ... (I was homeschooled.)  My mom switched because she didn't like it, but I know lots of people who DO like it, so it's really a matter of personal preferences.  The only thing I remember about it was that I liked it when I was little because it was bright and colorful and had lots of cool pictures.  But that's why my mom didn't like it, because it was distracting and I spent too much time looking at the pictures and didn't learn anything. lol

But if your kid doesn't have ADHD or anything like that, (not that I did! ;O) it might work for you .... it might be worth a shot.  It's just preschool, if you don't like it you've got 12 or 13 years to have them use something else. ;O)

    good luck!

  4. I've had one through it that will be in 3rd grade this year.  She came out of K4 reading, not just see jane run but READING!  after K5 I don't think there was anything she couldn't read.  She is supposed to read 3 or 4 "advanced" level books this summer and I think she has read 6 so far that are 5th and 6th grade level.  After 1st grade, one of the books she read that summer was Jumangi and I thought that was really good for a 1st grader.  Her math skills are very good and all other areas as well.

My next one will be in K5 this year and he is doing well but is not as excited about reading as his sister is.  We have no complaints with the program.
