Please, I am trying to understand the German mentality during the second war. I already know that many people disagree with Hitler and some of his top generals for declaring war on the Soviet State. I want to know why Hitler did this. Please feel free to elaborate on this question. One argument has been that the Soviet Union designed a " sphere of interest" which Hitler didn't trust nor like.

  1. You mean 'n**i' mentality. The German people for the most part lived in fear of Hitler. This is well documented in numerous personal accounts that are simply not published here. Hitler neither liked nor trusted Stalin.

  2. He was on a roll and thought the soviet union would be easier to take than England.

  3. He needed the oil and natural gas. Very similar to why Russia has invaded Georgia, they don't need it but want the power and money.

  4. Hitler despised communism.

Hitler also wanted, needed, the oil fields in Russia.

  5. He overreached because he thought it would be easy.
