Question:

Any plumbers out there? I need help with a plumbing issue in an older (1950's) house. My toilet keeps clogging

A few months ago I bought a house that was built in the 1950's. I put in a Kohler Cimarron toilet, which came highly recommended. I had nothing but problems. The toilet clogged all of the time (even when there was nothing in it). I replaced all of the plumbing with ABS piping and even tried another toilet...a Toto Ultramax. The toilet worked great for the first few flushes and now it is doing the same thing. Obviously the problem can't be the 2 new toilets and I've replaced all of the piping. Any other ideas what could be causing this problem? I'm so frustrated :(

  1. Did you check the plumbing systems vent?  Did some creature (bird, squirrel) go down the vent and block it?

  2. i think you need a break up stick

  3. two thoughts come to mind.

the wax ring/gasket where the potty meets the piping may be out of place.

1950's commodes and plumbing pre-date the 1 gallon per flush standard. replacing the plumbing with new probably did not change the falls(difference in elevations) and might not be compatible with a 1 GPF potty.

  4. HAHAHAAHHAHAA TOILET!
