  1. Say no to drugs. Ok sweetie?

  2. -write her name

    -say her numbers to 10

    -color inside of the lines

-get along with other children her age

    -read simple words like "dog"

-teach her the ABC's and other songs

  3. I would say besides the social skills, the fine motor skills that are necessary for writing are very important.  At the end of her Pre-k year she should be able to cut on a line, and cut out various shapes.  She should be able to string beads.  Using staplers, tape, etc are a good way for her to practice the fine motor skills.  She should be able to recognize as well as write her name.  She should probably know all uppercase letters. She should know how to count 1-10 and understand 1:1 correspondence.  I really think that kindergarten puts too much pressure on children, so it is very important for the child to be ready and not academically but more so socially.  Pre-k should help her to get where she needs to be.  Do not stress her out.  Have fun learning, because when children are bored, upset, frustrated, etc... they are not learning.

  4. -Independence-putting on own coat, doing up her shoes (velcro not laces), getting herself on and off the toilet etc.

-To use a cup with a handle if she is used to tippy cup.

-Enjoying of stories and songs-sing and read as often as possible so she learns to enjoy literacy rather than trying to teach her letters and things so young!

-Same with numbers-jump in puddles and count how many, count how many trees along the path etc...just have fun with numbers.

-Creativity: Exploring paint, glue etc...doesnt matter if it looks like nothing as long as she enoyed exploring objects.

-Her name-not neccessarily how to write it but reconising she has a first and last name.

-Social skills: spend time with other parents, parent and toddler groups etc so she gets used to others her own age.

  5. I am a preschool teacher and i am glad to hear a parent want to know what to teach your child to be ready. I am going through this at home where i have a 3 1/2 year old daughter who is starting preschool for the first time. I have been teaching her to identify her letters, counting, colors, shapes, writing her name, the sounds that letters make and even do some simple science experiments to get them thinking. you could even do something as simple as showing your child mixing colors into new colors or putting water in ice cube trays in the freezer and ask them what will happen to the water...i hope this helps

  6. printing her name - first letter capital, rest lowercase

    counting to 10

    address

    phone number

    shapes

    colors

naming the letters of her name

don't stress though - pre-k will be working on these things an they know how to do this in such a fun way, your daughter won't even know she's learning. sometimes it's harder to do at home.  Approach it in a very fun way.
