  1. Good Night Gomez.... lol (seriously)

I like Gomez but, he isn't elite like Cotto.

  2. Cotto by TKO10.  Gomez will hold his own, but not quite Cotto level.

  3. I like Gomez a lot because he has true heart and he's not afraid to fight the best, so its going to hurt me seeing him get pounded on by Cotto.  Gomez is a big guy for a welterweight (he fought in "The Contender" as a middleweight), but what people forget is that Cotto walks around at like 180 and has to sweat down to 147.  I'm surprised that he made 140 for all those years.  Gomez will be fairly competitive for the first few rounds, but by the middle rounds, Cotto will be putting constant pressure on him and attacking his body relentlessly.  Gomez is just simply not skilled/good enough to hand Cotto his first loss and Cotto is simply too good/strong to lose to a fighter like Gomez.  The only way that Cotto loses is if he is overlooking Gomez to bigger matchups and paydays (like when Paul Williams lost to Carlos Quintana).  I don't see that happening though, and I favor Cotto to win by a late-round stoppage from the ref (Gomez won't stay down- he's got too much heart).

  4. Cotto by mid to late KO.

Gomez will likely come out trying to box, something he does relatively well (relative to how well you'd think he would do it), but after tasting a few Cotto powershots, which would call Gomez manhood into question it would break down into a brawl.  Gomez usually goes into brawling mode anyway halfway through his fights, but this one will breakdown earlier.  Don't get me wrong even if it stayed as a pure boxing match Cotto is a class above Gomez anyway.  Also add to this that Gomez is not as good as you think on the inside, just watch his fight with Feliciano (and Feliciano is not anywhere near Cotto's class).

Gomez will give a few shots, but will take some bigger ones.  Gomez is a tough kid and on The Contender he fought guys at 160 so he has taken big shots.  The problem is he will wear down as the fight progresses and the body shots build up.  Gomez wont quit, but his corner will probably not let it continue if he is taking a beating.

  5. Cotto by knock out in 7 or 8 rounds

  6. I completely agree with Mark. I've noticed a lot of improvement from Gomez with his boxing skills, and he has a heart also. Gomez will try to box him but it's really difficult to be successful by boxing against Cotto unless you're in Mayweather's level( just my opinion but face it he's the best "boxer" today in his weight). Cotto will really start to pressure in round 3 and Gomez will try to stand toe to toe at one point with the big heart he has. I think Cotto's pressure and quality will end the fight in round 8 or so by KO. Let's hope it's a good fight.

  7. Technically Cotto should win this fight. But something in my gut is telling me Gomez has a plan. He wouldnt take this fight for no reason. He's no fool. He probably has a nice gameplan. Cotto likes to leave himself open and gets hit alot. If Gomez keeps a strong jab and moves to his right all night long, his chances of losing aren't really that slim. Gomez has alot of heart and is a good boxer. With the right gameplan anything is possible. Don't count him out.

    GO GOMEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Cotto will win. Gomez will join Banks from the contender. Gomez needs to box, try to beat rounds on points, preserve his energy and keep moving. Gomez need a effective jab and try not to get into a brawl. Try to preserve your energy for late rounds while winning rounds on points early. Be patient, Land the hard clean shots, when the opening is there or safe. Have a dam good mental game before you come in. Pop shot and get out of there quick or tie him up. Dont stay stationary and sit down when its safe to. The most important thing for Gomez, stamina with a capital S and defense with a capital D.

  9. RIP Gomez

  10. Cotto who`s Gomez does he have a belt?Next!

  11. When is Gomez's FUNERAL???

  12. Gomez has been looking good his pass couple fights. He absolutly crushed Gatti in a one sided match. But I think he's going to be in over his head this fight. Cotto isn't one of those bums from the contender, he's the real deal. Gomez does posses some power behind his punches, but I think Cotto's body attack and faster hands are going to get the best of Gomez. I see a knockout occuring in the middle to later rounds, in favor of Cotto. Givin that both of their styles are pressing forward type fighters I do plan for it to be an interesting, and some what exciting fight. Gomez can make a great name for himself with a good performance, so I plan to see him give his all. I think this fight will be worth watching.
