Any primary school teachers out there?

can anyone tell me the good sides and the bad sides to being a primary school teacher? Are they well payed, how much do they earn once fully qualified? thanks x

As a teacher, I can tell you that it is extremely rewarding when you realise the positive role you play in the lives of children. Every day is different, the holidays are great and you really can make a difference. Unfortunately, the salary (while not being too bad) is not as rewarding! It really is a profession that you do for love, not money.

If you do decide to become a primary teacher, I'll leave you with some useful  advice that I was given:

"They won't remember exactly what you taught them but they will remember how you made them feel."

i love being a teacher!  its the best job ever!  to be a good teacher (im an infant teacher) u have to eat, sleep and breathe it.  u do the job because it is ur passion, not for the pay or the holidays - although they are a sweetener.  u do the job because u want to make a difference in young people's lives.

the downside is that u can be attacked, spat at, sworn at, covered in all nature of disgusting things like sick/poo/blood/wee.  usually the downside is dealing with the parents.  the paper work can be irratating, like writing reports and marking tests, but not all the time.

its great when they call u mummy, not so great when they say grandma. lol

i think the pay is OK.  look at the NUT site its best for calculating pay.
