Any punishment ideas other than time out?

I am dealing with a child i just cannot punish. I put him in time out and he either takes a nap or screams the entire time, learning nothing and repeats the same behaviour right after earning a time out yet again. I tried assigning extra chores and he just asks for more instead of having to behave...I tried taking away his wii and playstation and both have been unhooked up for 2 months now with no effect. I took his TV and DVD player away...still has had no effect on his behavior. Anyone know of anything else I can do? I am going insane!!

put the child in their bedroom then put the key in the lock and turn, the child then stays locked up until you say they can come out the older the child the more time they spend under lock and key, the worse the crime the more punishment they recieve
