Hiya.

I'm going ice skating tomorrow and I want to learn something new. I am a quite confident skater and can go quite fast on the ice and do a 2-footed spin. Does anyone know if there is any spins or step stuff I could try out..?

Thanks if you answered xx

  1. Try the fantabulus lunge...

Just glide 1st.... Make sure you are going fast enough then start extending your feet behind... Make sure your blades are not touching the ice or else you wont move. Make sure you are stretching your legs and also make sure your boots are on the ice... It is really easy, fun, and it also makes u look good. ;)

  2. You could try a one foot spin or a waltz jump (back crossovers followed by half a turn in the air).

  3. That's great that you want to try something new!

Two footed spins are always fun. Once you are comfortable with that try a one foot spin. Just go into a two foot spin, and lift your right foot off the ground (If you are right handed. If you are left handed then lift your left foot up.) Make sure that in your one foot spin to try and keep all your weight on your spinning leg. Here is a video with some more detail:

You can also try some jumps!

There is a two foot hop, bunny hop, and waltz jump.

The two foot hop isn't really a jump. You just jump up and land on two feet. Piece of cake.

A bunny hop is sort of like a skip on ice. (By the way, these directions are if you are right handed. If you are left handed use the opposite foot.)

You sort of kick your right leg up and forward, like stepping up the stairs, and land on your right toe pick, and step down onto your left foot and glide. You are always going forwards.

Now for the waltz jump. This jump simple, and fun! It is hard to explain, so here is another video:

Some other tricks are lunges and spirals.

    I hope this helps!

  4. Try bending your knees - that will certainly make you go fast!

Don't lean too far forward and don't lean too far back!

    Good luck & have fun!
