Any "hidden treasures" in/around Ocean City, NJ?

We're going to Ocean City for a few days next week. We have the travel guide with the main attractions and stuff, but I was just wondering if there are any lesser known interesting places/sites in the area that we can check out. We do have 2 kids, ages 4 years and 20 months, so we have to consider their interests and attention spans.

The massive wooden playground as you come into town off the parkway is nice.  

I'd say places like the surf mall on the boardwalk around 11th would be the opposite of what you're looking for.
