We are planning to go to Spain on honeymoon in August and would like to go to Barcelona for a few days then on to other parts of Northern Spain. I am looking for any suggestions of places to go after Barcelona and any (cheap) hotel/villa recommendations. Preferably with a beach, some culture and not a massive amount of tourists.

  1. NAPLES IS GORGEOUS, RIGHT BELOW MOUNT VESUVIUS, NO PLACE ON EARTH LIKE IT!

  2. I've heard that one of the most BEAUTIFUL places is San Sebastian, Spain.  It's in the northern part of Spain -- Northwest of Barcelona.

I've been all over Spain, and loved every inch of it, but I hear it's got unparalleled beauty.

  3. There are plenty of places in the north of Spain for visiting! The coast named "Costa Brava" (it goes from the frontier w/ France to a not very big city called Blanes) it's really nice and even though there are some pretty touristic places during August, there are also a lot of little towns that have nice quiet beaches. Also, you can rent a traditional reformed catalan house, this are called "masies". You could also visit cities like Girona, it's about 30 minutes driving from the coast, it has some nice historic places and you can do some shopping. If you'd like to go outside of Catalunya, you could visit the Basque Country, near San Sebastián there are some amazing beaches! In both places, the gastronomy it's really good, real Mediterranian! Outside of Spain, but still near, there's the mediterranian coast of France, maybe you could rent a car to go there if you are interested.... well hope you have an amazing honeymoon!=)

  4. The province of Cantabria is very, very nice and not too crowded.

Santander is a beautiful city, also Santillana del Mar, check the website below.

    Enjoy your trip!

  5. Go to Gijon is a beautiful quiet city with great landscapes and monuments to visit, nice people, good food , beautiful beach right on the city , San Lorenzo, and a few peaches out of town well communicated.

If you want to go to an AMAZING place , Santillana del Mar, the beach is just a few kilometers from the town and is a middle ages city with no new buildings , all the hotels are old palaces from the Nobles of the area , plenty of cultural visits, Cuevas de Altamira , Colegiata de Santillana, Museo de la Inquisicion and you have Santander only a few miles away .
