My favorite album that came out during the summer was definitely

Scar Symmetry's "Holographic Universe"

They are melodic death metal, the lead singer will blow your mind.....he and the rest of the band have never disappointed me....

Its not necessarily a new album, but the latest Coldplay is pretty amazing.  This is coming from someone who is not a Coldplay fan.  Brian Eno produced it with the band and he really did a great job.
