Any recomendations 2 share w/ someone who'll volunteer w/ orphans?

Would like to help the kids out as much as possible and if u have experience, what kind of bumps in the road were u able to avoid. I just filled out a contact me form for a non prof. that works w/ child protective svcs. children and foster + orphan children. So I have yet to hear from them. I have a background in working w/ the developmentally disabled and nursing; also have 3 children ages 6 years, 4 years and 4 mos. would like to involve my toddlers as well w/ other kids there age if that would be helpful.
