Any recommendations for a Mini Laptop?

Anyone have a recommendation for a small laptop that can easily fit in a backpack? I basically need to do the normal studying-type stuff like browse, spreadsheets, PDFs, etc.

All things considered at this point.

  1. mini laptops at affordable prices.  ipaq etc right here

have questions need assistance just ask shoot me an email.

  2. You may like an Eee PC: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Screen-Celero...

It's very small, and not expensive at all. There's two models; the 7" model costs $399, and the 10" model costs $549.

You should try out the keyboard first though and make sure you can type on it, it can feel pretty cramped.

    There's also the MSI Wind:

It's a competitor to the Eee PC; supposedly better, but you may need to do some research. It has a bigger keyboard, but it is still pretty cramped. Again, you should try it out first.

I use a Macbook Air, but that may be outside of your budget. However, it does have, hands down, the best keyboard I've ever used. I bring it in my backpack all the time and it weighs less than any of my textbooks; on its own, I can hardly feel it in there. It also seems to wake up from sleep instantly and extremely quietly, presumably due to the lack of an optical drive. Granted, none of that's a selling point, but overall it makes for a very enjoyable computer to use.

  3. Macbook air if you have the $$ and aren't afraid to try something new, three pounds, and incredibly thin, but they are due for an update any time now, if you are interested, I would hold out until juuuuuust before school starts.

The others in the Macbook line are going to be updated too, they are (most likely) staying around 1" thin, and the 17" tops out at 6.8 pounds (17" of glass is heavy!), which is what some of the competitors' 15"s are near in weight!

There is always the HP mini note thing, or an ASUS Eee PC, but those have small screens and resolutions, unlike any of the Macbooks.

^^ good luck with your decision.
