Any recommendations for a restaurant in Chicagoland (good food and nice atmosphere) for under $50 a person?

My husband and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary and I would like to have a more formal night out but we're a little tight on the budget as we just bought a house. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we don't get out much (if ever)!

I know Chicago well.  Cocoa Pazzo is a chic and relaxing italian place located in the River West area with warm woods etc.  Also Graze is located close to downtown -- Ontario St. and offers small plates -- great for sharing and trying a lot.  Both are upscale.  Graze is more trendy.  A more neighborhood place that is light, airy and contemporary is Old Town's Topo Gigio.  Plus there are lots of shops and other places to eat right there too.  Athleticmindedtraveler.com is a great resource for places to eat -- it highlights places that both light and hearty eaters will enjoy.

J. Alexander's on the North side of the city is amazing. It is american food that is elegantly presented and very good. You can have appetizers, drinks and dinner for about $40 per person.

Gale Street Inn....all I can say is....THEY HAVE THE BEST RIBS EVER!!!!

I used to live in Chicago and would certainly recommend the Italian Village- economical and very romantic! I go there ever time I go back to visit. Can get busy so you might want to go at an off time or during the week. I have included a link- have fun!

I don't know anything in Chicagoland but a good place to look is FoodNetwork.com. I'm sure they have plenty of places you can look up in your area and fits your tastes and needs.

You must try a wonderful italian restaurant, Buona Terra, on California and the Boulevard.  They offer a prefixed menu on Thursday nights for about $25 per person. It is amazingly good.  You have to try their mussels in sauce, if you like mussels.  Their pasta is fabulous...ARRABIATA PENE!!  Trust me you won't regret it.

I just heard an ad for Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.  They are having a summer special.  Dinner for 2 entree and side and dessert for around $80.  That is pretty good for 2 people.

Call and ask about it I heard the ad on WGN radio.
