  2. Hi Moe, I think that's a great assignment and I'm sure you can pull it off.  I use to work at a home as an activity aide. It was a very rewarding job because I was able to bring enjoyment to so many of the residents that lived there. Some who had no family or friends to come and see them or even get any mail from. I would try going to a local home and do some volunteer work they are always short handed and happy to get the help. Its their final home and they love seeing little kids and animals or just going in and polishing their nails.Takes very little to make them happy. After you get to know some of them I think you might be surprised at how much you can learn from some of those nice old folks that where once your age.Good luck on your term paper I would love to read it when your done.Love Love this project bless the person who came up with it.Remember giving back to your community with volunteer work looks great on any resume or college application and will give you remarkable self worth. Give it your best shot.

  3. I've had students take on a topic that they felt passionate about - homelessness, animals, environmental, serving as mentors, etc.  They volunteered 10-25 hours.  Took pictures.  Kept a journal documenting what they did. Completed a short interview.  Then they created boards and/or powerpoint presentations and presented them to groups of staff and parents (max. 5).   Less writing and researching, but very meaningful just the same.
