There are a LOT of  music venues in Paris. What type of music are you into?

But even before we get into what music you like, a word to the wise. "American friendly" doesn't mean that you can act like either a typical American frat boy or "gangsta."

The French are less aggressive, less likely to get drunk in public, generally more soft spoken, more intellectual, and less likely to assume immediate friendship with relative strangers than Americans.

Loud, boisterous, boasting, show off behavior will get you nothing but contempt from the French. Instead, do the quietly cool, laid back, deep thinker, knowing hipster thing.
