So far, thank you for your great answers! I should clarify--I'm looking for discussion boards for people looking to adopt. Thanks!

  1. My favorite is on www.adoption.com. No matter where you are coming from (adopting infants, adopting older, adopting transracial, adopting internationally, adopting siblings, etc.) there is a discussion group on the site for you.

It is a little hard to navigate and you have to jump through a hoop or two to register, but it's free and positive.

Also, I get a lot of info from Yahoo Answers! But you just can't discuss, huh? :) Good luck!

  2. Fertile thoughts and fertility friend have adoption boards, but you have to pay to use FF's after your initial 30 day trial period is up.

  3. iVillage.com has some solid, balanced, supportive boards.  Lots of good information from people from all sides.

  4. The discussion board already mentioned are the best ones I know of, but BY FAR the best resource I have found are the groups on Yahoo.com. They are email groups and are usually private so you have to subscribe, but you will get a lot of candid experience and advice. There are groups on agency selection, different country adoption programs, domestic adoption, transracial adoption, post adoption issues etc.

Go to groups.yahoo.com and you can search based on the type of adoption you are interested in and a list of groups that match that description will come up. We adopted from Ethiopia and I participate in a large Ethiopian adoption group, one specially for my agency, one for Christians who've adopted from Ethiopia, and one for people from my region who have. It has been amazing the amount of information I have gotten, and I have actually built connections which will allow my adopted son to have other Ethiopian friends and keep some cultural ties. I highly recommend checking out Yahoo groups!

    Good Luck!! Adoption is wonderful!!

Editing to reply to the amended question:

The best adoption boards are where all parts of the triad are in the discussion, not just potential adoptive parents.  The boards that limit their scope to just adoptive parents or potential adoptive parents run rampant with doofuses and stupid.

  6. Triad is for adoptees, birth families and adopting families.
