I'm not sure how bad the problem is, whether it is a sheet flow or directed flow you want to control.  Not knowing the site and without any details being provided by you, all I would be doing is guessing.

Coco Coir is used in several products such as mats, rolls, and as a sprayed product for erosion control, though it is primarily used as a soil less growth medium.
