Any relationship between the climate of a place and the kinds of houses that people live in there?

  1. Of course there is, you wouldn't build a palapa in Alaska would you?

    A flat roof in Arizona is no big deal, but a flat roof in an area that gets lots of snow would be asking for trouble. A steep a-frame design for a roof then works best.

    Mud huts in Africa were there is little rain fall works, but how long do think a mud hut would last in a rain forest?

    I don't mean to sound sarcastic, this is a great question. Just stop and think what kinds of structures are built in different climate types, and it all starts to make sense.


  2. A brick house would be dangerous in earthquake country. Certain kinds of windows are better in snow country. Wood roofs in fire areas are another example of the relationship between houses and weather. Oh, yes. A relationship surely exists!
