  1. I've got 16 years in the Marines and Army combined, as well as two tours in Iraq and 1 in the Stan currently and will most assuredly be voting for McCain.  Obama will pull another Clinton and all but disband my military for one.  Democrats have a great habit of decimating the military and it's funding, thereby making us weak in both training and equipment.  Another reason is that Obamas tax plans are atrocious!  If you make over $150,000 a year then stand by for being taxed beyond belief.  My wife and I are well over that mark and know that having Obama in office will make our country weak and my pockets light.

  2. My husband and I are both active duty army. We do not agree with McCain. In fact many other veterans do not. We are for Obama because we want to be with our children and my husband is tired of deploying and risking never coming back. In fact he is deploying in Nov and Obama wants the troops back. McCain says he doesnt care if we are out there 100 yrs....... but then agian he is not the one out there. And if you look at McCain's military history it isnt great.

  3. McCain, my husband is active duty AF, we know that democrats like to cut military funding, carter did, clinton did and so will obama, McCain has been in our shoes and knows what we go through

  4. My uncle just retired from the military in April. (30 yrs).

He is a registered democrat but he is voting for McCain because he says that Obama lacks experience and in a time like this, we need the best of best to run our country.

  5. neither.  I'm for a smaller government, which neither of their parties offers.

  6. Simply because McCain was in the military doesn't mean he "understands", appreciates or respects the troops.

  7. My nephew is a retired army sgt, 12 years active duty, three combat tours, who got tired of playing what he called world cop. He's voting for Obama. So is my cousin's son, who is on his third tour of Iraq right now.

Both of them know McCain was a lousy pilot who only got into the Naval Academy because his father and grandfather were admirals. This use of "experience" as a red-herring is working. Funny, McCain has an Alaskan separatist who had to ask what a VP was. Oh boy are we in for more troubles and wars if he gets elected.

  8. Retired.

I vote independent. I want lower taxes, and smaller government.

Though at present it looks like McCain.

I would rather slit my throat then vote Obama.

  9. My husband and I are both Vets and we will both be voting for McCain

  10. I am a Veteran and I will be voting for McCain/Palin.

A person should not vote for a candidate just because you think he or she will help just you.  I'm sorry that there are military personnel, who signed on the dotted line, and now do not want to full fill their commitment.  I'm sorry that people like that exist in our military.  But, they do and they always will...because this is a free country.

I don't care if McCain graduated last in his Naval Academy class...at least he did graduate, which not everyone can say.  He, without reservation, went and served our country.  He gave more years in sacrifice for our country as a POW than most people ever will think of doing.  The only people that have sacrificed more are those who have died, been a POW themselves, or are MIA.  At least McCain did serve his country and put his country first, before himself.

Rudy said it right last night, "...only in America..." can a person succeed to the power Obama has.  He hasn't worked for his success, nor has he sacrificed for this country.  He's found an opening and an audience that he's wooing to get to the top position.

If anyone can tell me, in detail, what Obama has done for my country, I would like to know.  So far, I can't find anything positive.  What I have found is that Obama thinks so little of our country that when the National Anthem plays he doesn't find the need to put his hand over his heart...which by military standards is against regulation.  Nor, does he find the symbol of the American Flag so great that he removed it from his own Presidential airplane and put his own logo in it's place.  That tells me, right or wrong, that he would rather I salute his logo than the flag I joined the armed forces to defend

  11. Obama lost his credibility with the military when he sided with Murtha over the Haditha incident.

Notice how Obama and the rest of the Democrats have failed to apologize to those Marines for repeating enemy propaganda and applying political pressure to influence the military justice system?

  12. rache -

Like the cliche' :  I'm not voting for the best, I'm voting to keep the least qualified out of office.  Not once have I heard Obama say something that had true substance when dissected.  I realize modern politicians try to say the least while sounding like they said the most, but Obama really hasn't explained how he'll do anything. For example:  he thinks we need to talk with rogue countries like Iran. C'mon, Iran knows what we want and where we stand, and vice versus.  Having reps sit together in side-by-side chairs will accomplish nothing more.....

McCain is a real American hero, especially for his sacrifices.  But that alone doesn't mean he's qualified to be president.  However, he does have experience (tons of it) on capitol hill.  Sadly, if folks look deep into his voting record, he hasn't been too kind to the military either.  Many times he says legislature is flawed, or doesn't go far enough, so he votes against, meanwhile, the military gets left behind...

More and more, it seems that people that would make really good presidents don't go after the job anymore.  Or they lack the professional teams (behind-the-scenes) with sufficient expertise and smoke & mirror abilities to get them nominated.

Actually, I think the reason that American voter turn-out is anemic is because people feel disenfranchised.  They're just not happy with any of the candidates.

I'm still not sure who I'll vote for!

ps  thank goodness Hillary has gone back to her old job...

  13. Rache,

I am a retired Naval officer and an independent voter.

I can't vote for Obama for two primary reasons.

First his lack of experience. In the Navy they don't give command of an aircraft carrier to an officer fresh out of college. Usually an aircraft carrier Command Officer has 22 years experience - for obvious reasons. Obama has zero experience in leadership. That's a serious defeciency. And what's with all those 'present' votes? Where's courage with that?

Secondly, in reading Obama's book, "Audacity of Hope" he states in a conflict he would side with the muslims. Wasn't it radical muslims who flew planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon on 9/11? Where is his judgment on this? [page 261]

Also, his economic policies either would damage the lower working class, not help them. Or else they wouldn't be passed by congress.

Thus, Rache, my vote has to go to McCain, for his experience and better judgment.

  14. My husband is active duty and we are voting for McCain. He has the experience, military experience, and backbone to stand up for our American rights and to keep this country safe.

Obama is a coward and has NO experience!! He has not ran anything!

    McCain 08!!

  15. Can I have another option, please?
