Question

what are some ways of saving on money when buying things?

like i have already made a c&c cage 2x4(grids) with a top 1x2(grid) for 40$ instead of pending a fortune on cages

instead of buying an expencive igloo hidie house thing i bought a 1$ stoll

im also going to buy fleece instead of bedding because it just isn't practical for that much of an area to cover but there will be a section that will have bedding which well be shredded newspaper

im going to the 99 cent store so any sugestions please tell me

i already am going to get like a food dish from there that is ceramic

some little tubes to keep the food stored in

a mini dust and broom to clean the fleece with for the mornings

and on top of that i'm adopting which it cost's 5$ and im saving a life

so any sugestions please

Have you even looked at a guinea pig site for the proper way to care for a pig?They need a cage lined with newspaper and some wood chips like Aspen not a fleece.They'll end up chewing the fleece and making themselves sick.They need lots of good quality Timothy hay to keep there digestive system working and keep their teeth in good form.Hay daily!No alfalfa,gives them bladder stones.Lots of fresh veggies daily,too.,like parsley,carrots cucumbers,romaine,kale.stay away from the .99 store a lot of their product are made in China by unsupervised small companies(?).Some toys and such have been found to have high levels of lead and other heavy metal contaminants.

What is a $1 stoll?

I think it's great your saving a life,but you,ve got to have some knowledge about what your doing to do it successfully.

Fleece is great, but make sure to get extra (so when one floor covering needs to be washed, you have another to lay down).

I actually switched my male rats' cage to fleece and just use bedding in the corner litter pan. :)

What is a stoll? I have no clue, but if it works, it works. :)

Empty toilet paper rolls make great toys for them to chew to shreds, and you can close the ends, and hide treats inside for a more intriguing twist. :)

So far, it sounds like you're doing pretty good. Just remember, while it's great to save some money, there are some things you shouldn't ''go cheap'' on (vet care, food, etc.)
