Hi I am in 8th grade an am doing a project on air pressure and I want to show an experiment that shows what air pressure is and does. So far, I have chosen to do the "crushing a can with air pressure" trick. but I want another experiment that is more "sophisticated". any ideas?? But still keep it simple.thanks!

  1. This is easy, make a burometer and measure the pressure changes over time and the weather patterns that fallowed, it all fits together.....

  2. If you have access to a bell vacuum (ask your teacher) you can make water boil at room temperature!

The air pressure at sea level is what keeps water from boiling.  That is why it must be heated to boil.  Heating excites the air that is naturally trapped in the water, and releases it.  If you put water in a vacuum, the atmospheric pressure cannot keep the air contained in the water anymore, and it will appear to boil.

Do some research on the topic, it will blow away your classmates!  (also try putting a marshmallow peep in there, it will get huge due to the air pockets expanding!)
