Any secret tricks I can use to help my bermuda lawn recover from the previous homeowner's laxness?

I have defeated many of the weeds, and the bermuda looks healthier, stronger, and thicker. But I live in a zone with watering restrictions. Anything I can do other than rain dances and Turfbuilder?

  1. sprinkle a mix of garlic salt and red pepper on it and the grass will be luscious and green in about 7 days

  2. Aerate the grass so that oxygen can get to the roots.  Feed it some nitrogen.  Bermuda is resilient grass and will bounce back.  Dance real hard for the Rain Gods.

  3. Soak it if at all possible ... if you have restrictions by the day of the week, soak it every other watering allowed day instead of watering less each allowed day.

Regular mowing - don't let it get shaggy or itwill look bald when you mow. Keeping it under 2 inches is best.

Fertlilze very lightly ...maybe apply 1/4 the recommended amount of ammonium sulfate (the sulfur helps) ... and a liberal dose of "soil sulfur".

Also, reconsider the size of the lawn. You might do better with half the lawn to maintain, and more drought resistent shrubs.
