  1. Don't try to use your hands when falling... Always use the forearms... Remember that you steer the board with your front foot. Start off on a bunny hill and try doing some turns with just your front foot strapped in and your back foot on the stomp pad.. Good luck.. I used to be a snowboard instructor before I went to college.

  2. the biggest thing is to be gutsy!  don't let yourself get scared.  don't stiffen up.  don't be afraid to pick up speed.

  3. first get used to having both feet in the board

then just try moving in it with one foot strapped in to get used to the movement

then try a bunny hill (rope toe) type hill and just practice your turns

turning is really essential, once you get that down your good to go

when turning the key point is to transfer your weight

  4. Take some lessons. Some mountains give them for free or pretty inexpensively. Trying to do it alone will be you hurt or so frustrated that you give up too soon. The instructors are very well trained and know exactly what to look for and can teach you the basics quickly and effectively. Don't wear any cotton. All it does is absorb sweat and keep you cold. Wear a wicking material base layer and waterproof jacket and pants with ONE PAIR of wool socks. That combo will keep you dry, warm and not weighted down or over dressed. HAVE FUN!!!
