Question:

Any solutions for my Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC box audio skips?

I have a cable box through Comcast that is a Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC. We use HDMI cables to connect and the audio drops every 10 seconds or so whenever we watch a recorded program. For even more fun, the picture has started freezing too. After many, many, many calls to Comcast, I've decided that they have no idea how to help me. Does anyone else have solutions for my problems? We've tried going back to the regular HD cables that came with the box, but the same problems ensue.

  1. Have they replaced the box yet?

If so, have you tried using a different hdmi port on the tv or replaced the cable itself?

If that didn't work, have you tried using either a optical or coaxial cable for the sound?  (You may have to change the sound settings on the box to get this to work if you are using hdmi for the picture).

Also, if the picture is also freezing, you might not be getting a strong enough signal to the tv.  Make sure your cable is only as long as needed, is an R6 type cable, and you can also buy something from best buy or circuit city that can boost the signal if necessary.
