I'm going to Australia in a week and will spend two days at a home stay. I'm looking for a meaningful, inexpensive gift for my home stay family. I know nothing about them, but I want something that can be personalized to respresent me, but represents the US.

  1. when my sisters went to the UK and stayed at someones house, they gave them little American flags and then a little trinket, such as a keychain or post card, from kansas ( the state we live in ) . that way they had something to rep. US and a bit of something more personal since its from your state. And maby you could buy a cheap picture frame and give them a picture of you for something personal so they will always remember your visit.

  2. I’ll have to suggest www.creanta.com

They turn any image like your favorite photographs into a hand made painting.

What I liked of them is that they at reeeeaally good at capturing the physical likeness. Not to mention very affordable.  I was very impressed with the results.  I highly recommend them.

    Best wishes!!

  3. I'd suggest you give your host family something that comes from your home town.

The type of thing a visitor to your town might take back home as a souvenir. Some picture post cards of the area, where you live in the USA, would be nice too.

That would be an appropriate and inexpensive gift in my opinion.

In Australia, we all know what the US flag looks like and you can buy them here so that would be a waste of money in my opinion.

  4. A scenic calendar is always a nice and useful gesture, it will remind them of you for 365 days.
