Any substitute for red chili paste

I am making a chicken dish that asks for red chili paste. I dont have it. Is there a substitute for that. Some of the other ingreds. are peanut butter honey.

    Substitutes:  try using hot sauce OR harissa OR crushed red pepper flakes (to taste; start with 1/4 as much) OR dried red chili peppers
