Any success with off shore investing?

I am looking into doing some off shore investing and I was wondering if anybody had any success with it. I also want to know if anybody has lost money doing it. Please only answer if you have tried it.

If you consider investing in stocks of foreign companies as off shore investing, then yes.  Currently,  the returns have been in the negative territory.
