Any suggestion as to what I should pack for an early October trip to Italy?

Visiting Rome, Venice and Florence - want to pack as lightly as possible - any suggestions as to what to pack - also, can I wear white sneakers (heard that this is not accepted in Italy)

Pack your valuables well, LOT's of pickpockets.

You can wear white sneakers if you like. Make sure you wear long trousers and cover your upper arms if you're planning on visiting any of the churches. You will not be admitted if you're not properly dressed. I've visited Italy many times and in different seasons. It will probably be quite warm still. I'd go for t shirts, jeans/trousers and a light water proof jacket as it does tend to rain sometimes. Have a great trip.

Rome is quite hot, Florence is good and Venice will probably quite cold and rainy...

weather in Italy can be really different from Venice to Rome ( also 10° C of difference..).

this year is crazy here (I live in Turin), take T-shirt and something warmer...

We were there last October, the weather is like late summer, pack lite and have a great time.

of course you can wear white sneakers.

wear whatever you want to wear.  i would pack lightly and purchse some clothes there.  they have some of the best fashions in the world.

look at GQ magazine if you want to know how italians are dressing now.  it changes every year.

October is the best month of all for visiting Rome: the sunny days are known locally as the "ottobrate romane". In northern Italy and at higher altitudes, however, temperatures may already be quite low, particularly at night. The evenings are closing in and during the last weekend of the month the clocks go back.

Average temps are 22 degrees C to 11 degrees C. Pack according to your tollerance.

With snickers you look to american...Try to get some decent cloths with you. If you go in a bus tour you will defenitlly need some shoes for those fancy "optional tours".
