Any suggestions for a canon macro lens?

Im looking to buy a new macro lens for my canon eos 450D.

I need something in the price range of up to $500.Any suggestions?

  1. I agree with foggy_idea, but I caution you NOT to be tempted by the lower price on the 50mm lens.  While the 60mm and 100mm lenses go to a full 1:1 reproduction ratio, the 50mm only goes to 1:2.  If you want 1:1, you have to buy Canon's adapter to get that and then you've spent more than the other lenses cost in the first place.


  2. I totally agree with foggy. I also have the Canon 100mm f2.8 USM Macro lens. It's a great lens for a great price Some say tht it is one of the very best lens that Canon makes, and really deserves an L designation! This lens is the one I would recommend to you...

  3. Check out the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro ($455)

    or the Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 macro ($240)
