Any suggestions for a good set of speakers and a sub i can get for around $300?

I'm on a budget of around $300, but I'm looking for the best pair of speakers and a subwoofer that I can get for that amount (I already have a receiver). Any info would be great, thanks.

Well If you spend the 300 on just speakers you can get speakers that will not only be more powerful but will handle the bass on their own. I bought some JBL stadium speakers with dual 8" woofers and they have pretty good bass by themselves.

If you are looking to spend under 200 dollars on a sub alone you are looking to buy some c**p. Cheap subs will not go loud and may bust. I got a polk sub 10" for 200 and didn't even notice a difference during music but maybe for movies used with my speakers.

If you are just using it as a stereo, just get a good pair of speakers. If you are really keen on reaching those very low frequecies for movies but not overall loudness, you may be able to find a set for 300.

You can save money by buying on amazon or ebay new or used (not recommended). Brands that are good and in your price range:

Infinity, JBL, Precision Acoustics

300 bucks is a real conservative budget for speakers AND a subwoofer...

Lately I bought a pair of JBL Balboa speakers that im using as surrounds, but might do just as well as the main speakers.  Each was 100 bucks and I got a 5-year warranty for them for an extra 5 bucks each.  I would spend 300 bucks alone on the subwoofer.  That's one of the most important parts of the sound system.

You can try Ebay.com  Ive seen a few good deals on there and won't have to pay taxes if your not from california or new york.  Try to find the seller "Harmonkardon" or something like that.  THey sell factory-remanufactured speakers and subwoofers for cheap.  Good luck!
