Question:

Any suggestions for a homemade salt-free seasoning blend?

Something along the lines of ms. dash, but without the dehydrated garlic or onion powder....{I'm not crazy about those - to me they have a strange aftertaste]

Any suggestions?

I'm new to cooking and recently found out I'm sensitive to sodium....

So I'll give anything that sounds reasonable a try.

Thanks all

Be well

  1. Try some Basil, Oregano, Thyme, Parsley and Cumin.

  2. No Salt Seasoning Mix

    1 Tbsp. garlic powder

    2-1/2 tsp. thyme leaves

    2-1/2 tsp. onion powder

    2-1/2 tsp. paprika

    2-1/4 tsp. celery seed

    2-1/2 tsp. ground white pepper

    1 Tbsp. dry mustard

2-1/4 tsp. dried finely chopped lemon peel

    1 Tbsp. ground black pepper

Mix all the ingredients together in a small mixing bowl, stirring until thoroughly combined. Store in a dark, cool place in a tightly sealed container. Use on meats, poultry and fish, or at the table for a salt-free seasoning. "The Perfect Mix" by Diane Phillips

(You can leave out something if you're not wanting it, like the onion powder)

  3. In Cooking There Are Very Few Limits. A Seasoning is What Ever You Want It To Be, and Can Have As Little Or As Much Of Anything You Want. But If You Have A Sodium Issue, Look For Low Sodium Salt As It Is A Key Ingredient To Making Meats Tender and Absorb The Other Flavours.
