I'm hosting a baby shower for a friend who is adopting. Anyone have any cute ideas for a cake?

  1. A typical cake! "Welcome Baby ~ friend's last name here"...

  2. anything normal... saying "congratulations on your new addition"

  3. Our son was already "home" when my shower took place.  My mother had "Welcome _____ (his name)" on the cake for the shower.  However, when the girls at work held a shower for me, our son had not come home yet.  They had "Baby Showers bring Diaper Towers" put on the cake.  Of course, that wouldn't be suitable for an older child, but I did think it was cute and it didn't matter if the child was bio or adoptive.

  4. a ducky

  5. A rainbow cake with a dreams come true theme, in pastel blue and pinks, yellows and greens.  Instead of candles, put a pacifier and a rattle in the cake.

  6. Just do whatever you would do if the baby wasn't adopted. I am adopted and my parents had 2 birth children of their own. I was always the adopted one, with the adopted things, and the adopted poem gifts etc.  I hated it. Just do what you would do if the child wasn't adopted. It is all the same. This is more important than I can even express. Hopefully your friend knows this too :) How fun and congrats for her!

  7. Congratulations on the new addition!!!

  8. well, it depends if the adoption is for a baby or an older child.  If it's for a baby - just a normal baby shower cake.  If it's for an older child, make sure you word it congrats on your new addition or welcome (child's name)  Don't put baby on it if it's for an older child

  9. probably just a normal babyshower cake...also diaper cakes are a really cool idea
