all of the age appropriate cranium games are wonderful.  Balloon lagoon, carabou, sounds of the seashore are all great.  The memory game is also good.  My sons' favorite was Penguin Pats' Fishy business.

Good old checkers is also great.  They make a childs uno with winnie the pooh and tigger that we loved.

Chutes and ladders and candyland are mind numbing for the adult that plays with the child, I highly recommend avoiding them.
