I went to a demo day yesterday and had success with Nike 4d

slingshot Irons. Do you have any suggestions for other " high launch " irons? It was nice to see the ball up high for a change.

  2. First, off, I would recommend staying away from the Slighshot.  There are really easy to hit, but next to impossible to control, making GIR really difficult.  My cousin shoots around 100-105 and he hit the old DCI Black irons, he finally ponied up the bucks and bought the Ping Rapture Irons, he now shoots about 7-12 strokes better.  Here is a bit from the Ping Website:

Rapture Iron relies on strategic use of titanium, steel and tungsten to create a high-performance, multi-metal iron. Careful analysis and application of each metal yields forgiveness and trajectory improvements while creating a face and cavity design that produces a solid, pleasing feel and sound.

I have hit both the Raptures and the Slingshots and the Raptures are so much nicer.  I would recommend going to your local golf shop and spend a couple hours hitting both, or your local course if they have a demo set and sit on the range for a few hours.  If you feel like spending $1100 the new Callaway Fusion Irons are also easy to hit nice and high!

  3. Most manufactures have a high launch iron offering. Some alternatives to the Nikes include:

    Idea Tech OS

    Cobra S9

    Tour Edge JMAX Quick Launch

    Have fun!

  4. Cobra S9s.  They are really good and forgiving.

  5. It depends on the level of your game.  If you are just a novice, then the Big Berthas will get you there.  If your game is more advanced, then I'd look into the Cleveland HiBore.
