Any suggestions for killing weeds?

i have sprayed round up and other weed killers on my fence lines around trees driveway and other areas but it seems to come back in about a month even if i mix it with higher concentrate. what type of chemical would you suggest or brand of weed killer that would be more effective . I live in florida and get lots of rain

Round up is actually the best stuff.  The ingredient is the same in all non selective herbicides, that is glyphosate.  The weeds are likely coming back because you don't have anything there to stop the weeds from coming back.  Weeds love bare ground.  Bare ground is a free ticket for weeds to grow.  You can mulch or place decorative stone mixed with preen (weed preventer) around your trees to stop stuff from growing around them.  

If you want the weeds to stop growing you have to have something there instead, flowers, mulch,stone, grass,etc.

These chemicals are leaf ingested, not root ingested and will not harm the tree as long as you spray it on the ground and not on the leaves of the tree

The best one I know of -and have used myself numerous times - is called TRIOX total vegetation killer. They sell it at LOWE'S or HOME DEPOT. Basically all you do is mix it with water in a watering can and pour it over the weeds. It will turn the weeds brown in a day or 2 . If it's hot outside it will speed it up even faster. Be careful around grass or plants you do want to kill- this stuff kills everything .  You wont be able to plant anything in this area for at least a couple weeks, but the stuff does work amazingly.  I used to have serious problems with weeds and this stuff is amazing! Weed B  Gone.........if you use vegitation killer, it will get to the roots and kill your trees........Get some bleach and a spray attachment and spray around your fene and drive way.........

Roundup usually works for me.  For tough weeds I have to apply it multiple times.

I personally try to "go green" as much and and simple as possible so with that being said I use salt water.  I have a 3 gallon sprayer, fill with HOT water, put salt (rock,table or whatever), make it strong - very strong.  Be careful around your trees and any live vegetation tho'.  I use this in my mulched flower beds by adjusting the spraying tip to a fine line, usually within 4-6 hrs the weed will either be dead or showing signs.  On my concrete sidewalks it works wonderful.  The last time I guess I prolly used a new box of table salt per gallon and 1/2 of water.  Like I said I do make it strong but if I'm goin to the trouble of doing this I want it to work !  Guess if your weeds are more contained you could pour your salt directly on the weed, even if it is raining this would work.  I also make alot of homade icecream - save that salt water to use at my convience.    Good Luck
