on sheets? My dog sleeps with us but sheds a lot. Any great ideas on getting up the hair or recommendations on a type of sheet or material that is better?

  1. To reduce shedding brush your dog every single day. (preferable with a wire brush) That should lightne his coat a bit. I am not very sure if there is a material that will help.. In fact I don't think there is. Just wash your sheets often.. .I wish I could be more help.

  2. Use cotton sheets, preferably white or light-colored; then when washing, you can use a bleach. Roll the sheets up from each corner and shake the sheets out and outside. Also, use a dryer sheet when drying, and dry the sheets independent of one another.

Vacuum around your bed while the sheets are laundering.

You'll need to shake out your comforter and launder it as well.

    Jim ;)

  3. Like the first poster said, brushing the dog will help.  My dog (who also sheds) sleeps on the comforter of my bed and I just vacuum it.  Works every time.

  4. You should buy one of the "furminator" brushes or something similar to get out that undercoat - I have one and it works really well. Taking your dog swimming can really cut down on the shedding too! But for getting it off the sheets I would get a more expensive vacuum so it will last a long time - you can vacuum up all the hair then. I would also think that the higher the thread count in the sheets the less harder it would be to get the hair up! Good luck!

  5. I use an industrial size squeegee from Home Depot to get fur off the rugs.  It'll work on sheets, too.  The fur then goes into empty Kleenex boxes, the ones with the plastic slot in the top - it won't pop back out at you, and you can just throw away the box when it's full.
