  1. Don't go there now, I heard they were going to be invaded as part of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies.

  2. You should visit Taipei 101, the night markets are a great experience so many different foods and lots of cheaper items, if you travel around the country you should go to Taichung and visit the National Museum of Natural Science & the Botanical Garden, if you want to visit an amusement park I suggest that you visit 劍湖山世界 Jan Fu Sun Fancy World its a very popular amusement park near Gukeng Township. Even further south is Tainan 台南 its a very interesting city with lots of history. You should visit the An'ping district and go to the Anping tree house, the Dutch house, Fort Provintia,  just travel around. Taiwan is a great country with lots to experience as long as you are open to the experiences.

What to eat~ try everything haha its a great experience and most foods wont cost you to much. Most meals will cost you from 50NT to 200NT.

If you don't have any friends or someone that you will visit in Taiwan knowing some Chinese will be an amazing help. But if you don't know much don't worry too much because Taiwan is a very metropolitan country and the larger cities will have lots of English speaking people, and areas near universities will have more. If you ask there will be someone who will help you, the Taiwanese are in general a friendly and helpful people.

    Have a great trip..

BTW~Taiwan is not going to be invaded by China any time in the foreseeable future.

  3. You didn't say where you are going, or how long you will stay.  It is really difficult to answer your question, because there is a lot to see outside Taipei.

I would suggest that you avoid western food.  It tends to be either lousy, or expensive, or both.  Eat what the locals eat.  Chinese people eat the local cuisine, and they don't die.  Be adventurous.

English is widely spoken in Taipei, and outside the big cities people tend to speak Taiwanese.

  5. 1. Go to Taipei101, the Maokung at Taipei Zoo,(no animals involved, also if you're not claustraphobic, or agoraphobic, and don't mind the possibility of being stuck in a box above a mountain.) Night Markets, Underground mall in Taipei by Fuxing Station, in Taipei. Out of Taipei, Alishan, Hualien, Candin, Kaoshuing, Tainan, Taichung, all acessable by High Speed Rail.

    2. Food, get a lot of different food, much of Taiwanese culture is about how many different foods there are, there are Japanese, Thai, Chinese, and a lot. If you're tired of foriegn foods, they have McDonalds too.

    3. Defenatly.
