Any suggestions on Decorations for a Graduation Party?

I would like to make some decorations with Streamers. Not the usual twist/balloon line the ceiling and tables type. Something unique. Maybe a nice centerpiece for the table. I am going to use to use the school colors for the theme. This will be a Graduation Dinner for a Senior. It will be at a banquet hall and about 50 guests. I haven't completely decided on the food just yet. I have a month to plan it. Do you have any ideals or suggestions? Thanks in Advance.

  1. Can you attach anything to the ceiling?  You could gather all the streamers together and attach to the ceiling, then fan them out to look like a gazebo, or tent.  Maybe attach them to table corners....   You can put "bouquets" of balloons into big pails and set them around the room ......Put some glowsticks into the pails with the balloons; or some cheerleading pom-poms, in school colors .......And, speaking of pom-poms, you could use pom-pom chrysanthemums (real or artificial) for centerpieces.  You could also have glowsticks in with them....

  2. try balloons and curling ribbon in school colors. curling ribbon is cheap and you can hang it on anything. i have done it for parties and it looks great. you just cut different lengths and curl with scissors. then you can put your balloons with it.  try not worrying about a centerpiece so much as keeping everything school colors. try using pom poms around the cake. for food i would keep it simple such as heavy hors douvers, such as chicken wings, cheese sticks, breaded mushrooms, vegetable tray, fruit tray. if you are doing formal dinner some simple flowers in school colors for a center piece and whatever is the graduates favorite dinner. you can do it buffet style. hope i helped a little. good luck and congrats!
