We are planning a trip later this year to Hong Kong. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay??

Try searching hostelworld.com and other hostel sites.  They should have reviews and list prices for the type of room your want.  Many of them will mention Chungking Mansions and possibly quote a Time magazine article that makes it sound wonderful.  It's okay during the day, but at night it tends to feel super shady around there.  A lot of hostels are in Chungking Mansions so check the address for wherever you stay.  My friend and I didn't really have any problems. but it the number of people loitering outside just felt mad shady and you don't want to have to keep your guard up when you're coming in for the night.
