Question:

Any suggestions on a very high quality color printer for line art?

I am looking for a semi-pro printing output that I can do on my own - without a print shop and the extra expense. Still trying to understand if 600 x 600 dpi is good enough or 1200 x 1200 dpi.

  1. 600 x 600 is fine for black printing.  You are only going to have trouble with outrageously small and different fonts.  Some printers can't print a font you never heard of in 4 points.  I suggest researching cnet, pcworld, and pcmagazine for the best options.

  2. Epson 1270 or 1280 are the bomb. they print on bristol, but neither printer has drivers that work correctly on Vista....

  3. You'll want to consider a color laser printer, as opposed to an ink-jet printer. The difference in the quality is significant.

  4. I don't know if by "high quality" you mean very expensive.  I love my Epson 1280.  If you are thinking an Iris printer, then that is a lot more money.
