Any suggestions on an affordable hotel for a honeymoon in Nice, France?

I'm heading to the French Riviera in October and I'm trying to find a place to stay that won't leave me broke. I know affordable is a relative word, but any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

  1. Why not look into bed and breakfasts? Often they are the same price as hotels, have a lot more charm, and always include breakfast.

You could also search in the area surrounding Nice, in a small village, for example which is likely to be cheaper.

B&B are called gites or chambres d'hotes in French.

  3. We have stayed in three hotels in Nice.

The Hotel Windsor and Busby Hotel are just a couple of blocks from the Promenade des Anglais, the major thoroughfare along the coast.  Both are clean and relatively inexpensive.

The Windsor is the smaller of the two.  We found the staff to be very friendly.  I got a big kick out of the elevator.  When you get on and push the button, it starts a countdown as if it was a rocket ship.

The Busby is larger and diagonally across the street from the Windsor.

A couple of blocks behind the Busby is the Hotel Bleu Marine.  It is a very nice hotel.  It's a bit of a longer walk to the Promenade des Anglais.

All three hotels are near the Pedestrian Zone.

  4. Nice is not very pretty in my opinion, especially outside touristic season. It is all built up with a concrete waterfront and everything is expensive there.

If I were you I would stay in Eze, a gorgeous perched village east of Nice, between Nice and Monaco in fact. It's got a far more romantic atmosphere, more appropriate for a honeymoon. Also it has a train station and there is a train all day along the Riviera that will take you to Nice in 10 minutes, Monaco in 7 minutes for under 2 €. There are many bus lines too, regional as well as local ones to take you to the upper parts of the village (bus 82 and 83) : http://www.eze-riviera.com/emotions/depl...

Check the Eze website and their list of hotels. Then check tripadvisor, venere.com and similar sites for reviews of the hotels.
