Question:

Any suggestions on good exercise videos for pregnant women?

Hi everyone! I am 9 weeks pregnant tomorrow and am trying to maintain an exercise program throughout my pregnancy. Does anyone have any suggestions on good exercise videos I could look into? I regularly go to the gym, mostly do cardio, but am open to pilates/yoga, cardio, and toning programs. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!!! :)

Im 30 weeks and i still go to the gym.  I didnt in the first trimester but mainly cos i felt awful but once 2nd trimester kicked in i went to the gym and did the bike, cross trainer and swimming which is really good for you.  I also did some very light weights.  If you normally train there is no problem with it.  i used to training from my job.  I lowered my weights and focused on cardio more.  However, dont get down if you feel like your body is still storing fat even though you are training.  I feel like im playing tug a war with britains strongest man as despite the amount of cardio i do i still put weight on my legs and bum but, ill just loose it afterwards.

  2. i would suggest yoga in pregnancy its gentle  and safe and very relaxing its good also to help prepare your body for pregnancy and the birth.

    i  wouldn't start to do exercise if your body's not use to it.

I have heard great things about yoga while pregnant.  Two of the Dr's that I work with did yoga while they were pregnant and they both seemed to do very well.  Not to mention now, you can't tell either of them ever had a child.  It seems like a really great low impact work out.  Ask for Dr to be sure that it's ok to start something new.  But my sister was an aerobics instructor and a personal trainer when she was pregnant.  She did slow down in class if she needed too.  But her Dr told her that she could continue to do what her body was used to doing.  He told her not to take up anything new, like sky diving, but otherwise she should be fine.
