Any suggestions on how to deal with the level of Gang knife/gun crime?

Personally I'd make being a member of a gang a crime punishable by transportation to the British section of Antartica on a one way ticket.

P.S. Not that the Penguins have done anything to offend me!

In Glasgow in the 50`s the `in` weapon was the open cut throat razor, the judiciary let it be known ( and did) give a 5 year sentence for being caught carrying one and a 10 year sentence for using one.

Gangs are a by product of the ruthless society we live in.

I feel that there should be a zero tolerance policy, violent murderess gangs need to be dealt with with their on idea of right and wrong. Diplomacy is out the window, they do not understand diplomacy, what they do understand is hard Knox! If the punishment for being in a violent game was cruel and hard then they might not be so tempted to be in a gang that is cruel and hard.

The main thing is that the people in the neighbor hoods need to take it back and stand up to them. If everyone teamed together and united as one against the tyranny they inflict on a neighborhood then they could not longer intimidate people and would be forced to leave.

5 year mandatory sentence in jail for anyone carrying a gun or knife.  And stop pandering to the lefties who see these low lifes as victims, they always bleat on about how many are from single parent families, low incomes and that's why they turn to drugs and crime, no it ain't, they do it because its a machismo thing, and too many are paying a price for it.

I would put security gates on all schools like the ones you have in airports, anyone caught with a weapon, excluded for a period of time. Start cracking heads, its no use being namby pamby anymore, we have seen where that has got us.

good parenting might be step in the right direction. if parents searched their children and confiscated knives,  made an effort to educate them in the dangers of weapons things might improve.
