I am a single mother and recently lost my full time job and the benefits that came with it. I have two prescribed medications that I have to take daily, but now with no insurance the price of my med(s) are like tripled the amount that it used to be. There is no way that I will be able to keep taking my med(s) and paying all of my bills along with gas. I need help! Please! My medication is Adderall XR and Zoloft. I have asked my doctor if he maybe give me a generic or something and the only thing is the regular adderall but he doesn't like to prescribe that one because of all the abuse from it. Thank you for your help.

  1. Transfer your prescriptions to Wal-Mart. They have many perceptions for $4 and others that are not, are still cheaper then any other pharmacy.

Also you can contact Select Care Benefits Network and see if you qualify for sometimes free or low cost prescriptions. Your meds are listed on their list of aavailable meds. See the link below.

  2. Some drug companies offer discounts to people who cannot afford their medication and some stores, like Walmart, have begun selling most generic prescriptions for around $4.  Check with your pharmacist and see if Zoloft is available at a reduced price.  Also, ask them about the generic substitutions, a lot of times, the drug company reimburses the doc for prescribing their drugs and you have a choice to go with generics since you are paying for it.

  3. Vote democrat. That's one of the biggest ways we can get the cost of not only medication, but everything else down.

  4. You should contact the manufacturers directly.

Most drug manufacturers have "gifting" programs where they will provide medication free of charge to people like yourself.

Call them on the phone, email, or write.  Explain your problem and ask them if they have any programs available to help you out.

In some cases the drug companies supply SAMPLES to the doctor.  Ask of the doctor has any free samples he could give you.

[BTW: So far as I know, both Adderall XR and Zoloft are still under patent protection -- there is no  generic for these drugs at this time. But ther ARE other drugs from other manufacturers that serve the same purposes. Ask you doctor about possibly switching to another medication.]

In most cities, there are also  Special Services and Funds to help people like yourself pay utilities.  You need to contact a Social Worker about this.

  5. You could try an online chemist?

Depends on what country you live in?

  6. Find a chiropractor who has the heart to take on cases involving financial hardship.  Some of the conditions for which these medications are prescribed have been known to respond to chiropractic care.

Once the drug companies see more people resorting to alternate means than sucking down their pill cocktails, their prices will have to come down.

    Kinda like gasoline!  :)  :)
