Any suggestions to well located, reasonably priced hotels in Rome?

A couple of friends and I are planning a trip to Italy, which will include 2 days in Rome. I am curious as to if there is anyone with firsthand information about hotels that are conveniently located, yet reasonably priced. When I say reasonably priced, I mean under $200.00. This is probably hard to find in Rome, but we're hoping! Also, anyone with some great locations to visit that aren't particularly well known would be awesome to know also. Thanks so much!

  2. Check out the Hotel Mariano.  It's near the Termini, which has a bad reputatioin for neighborhood, but we had no problem.  Our room had a double bed, a single bed and a dresser that converted into a bed (don't ask, I still don't understand).  So it was a room for 4.  The room was newly refurbished and overlooked a piazza.  It also had the best shower that we used during out whole stay in Italy.
